Yoga…

At Indigo Healing Arts, yoga is offered in a private one-on-one therapeutic setting with a lean towards slower paced, gentler forms of yoga such as Yin and Restorative. Private sessions are also great for those who are new to yoga and may be intimidated by group classes. Please see below for the descriptions of what I can offer.

Each private yoga session can be completely custom built adding sound meditation, Reiki, stone medicine and even some elements of Shamanic healing.

Your session can be designed to accommodate up to 5 people for an intimate gathering. I have plenty of space in my office or I can come to you!

Each session is always held providing the highest level of care and attention to the individual client.

What is Yoga?

Yoga is a Sanskrit word meaning “to yoke; to bind; to unite”.

Yoga helps us to achieve our highest potential physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Through conscious movement and breathwork we are able to move our bodies through asanas (yoga poses) to strengthen and stretch our physical body, release energetic and emotional blockages, and quiet our minds to relaxation relieving ourselves from the constant daily noise (read: STRESS!). In this space we are capable of yoking, or connecting, to our higher-selves and our surroundings allowing us to feel whole and united.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is practiced at a slow gentle pace. Each pose is fully supported by props such as bolsters and blankets and is held for an extended amount of time allowing the student to “let go” by not having to exert any muscles . This slow methodical practice is done to help create ease and comfort in stillness, something we are not accustomed to in our busy lifestyle! A deep concentration of the breath coupled with the full support of the props allows the student to activate the parasympathetic nervous system. This is the “rest and digest” part of your nervous system that helps keep basic functions working as they should. In this space, the body is able to rest, balance, and restore. (**Restorative yoga pairs well with Reiki, yoga Nidra, and sound healing.)

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a passive and gentle practice that uses long held postures to release tension and increase flexibility deep within the connective tissues, fascia, and joints. Besides its physical benefits, it is well known for providing a space for the student to sit with and observe uncomfortable emotions, thoughts, or physical sensations as they arise. In fact, one of the greatest benefits of this practice is allowing the student an opportunity to acknowledge what is coming up and agreeing to release it from the body by accepting that these energies no longer serve a benefit to the student. (**Yin yoga pairs well with Reiki and sound healing.)

Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga is the yoga of balance. The intention of this practice is to destress and relax the body and mind. Hatha yoga is designed to align and calm the mind, body, spirit in preparation for meditation. You can expect slow-paced yoga poses (asana) in this practice to encourage an improvement in strength, flexibility and balance. The class is weaved with various techniques such as pranayama (breath regulation), meditation, mindfulness, mantra and chant in support of relaxation and release. Principles of safe body alignment are highlighted throughout the class while also encouraging students to find their best alignment using self-inquiry. The pace of this class allows for cultivating awareness of the physical body as well as the subtle (energetic) body. If you are new to yoga, recovering from injury or need a gentler practice, check out this class. You will leave feeling relaxed, recharged and happy.

Vinyasa

Students are guided through a flowing sequence of traditional yoga poses that coordinate breath with a set series of movements (Vinyasa) between each those poses.

Sound Healing

During this sacred time you will be guided into a deep space of healing and information gathering using the soothing and healing vibrations of sound tools including a Shamanic drum, crystal singing bowls and a 34” Chau gong. The drum opens the pathway to relaxation by calming the ever present chatter of the mind, while each bowl, being tuned to a particular Chakra, as well a the gong allows for a clearing of energy and a reset of the mind, body, and spirit. The combination of sound vibrations allow you to slip into a space where healing and information may be accessed to create clarity, gain personal insight, and release energy that no longer serves you.

I can also lead you through your own personal medicine drum journey.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep, is a form of guided meditation aimed at delivering you into ultimate relaxation. You will float in the space between wakefulness and sleep to calm the mind and allow the body to return to homeostasis. Here, the parasympathetic nervous system is tapped into so that the body can achieve activation of its self-healing abilities while the mind and energetic system simultaneously rest and recharge. This is an amazing way to reset.
